“I’ve been writing regularly for publication since 1987. I’ve worked at Purple as writer and editor for over 15 years. Currently I’m also an associate editor for Purple Fashion, which Olivier publishes. Clearly Purple has gone through many changes, and I’ve been lucky to be a go through them all. So I owe much more than a mere thank you to both Elein and Olivier. But I must pay special gratitude to Elein, who first invited me to participate in the evolution of Purple, and by doing so significantly advanced my own evolution. She also laid out this book, for which she deserves my sincerest thanks. I often edit my published work myself, something I don’t recommend. I re-edited these essays, and had them corrected by Marty Vickers, a copy editor friend who is also my current musical collaborator. This is also the first publication where “I” regularly shows up as a pronominal frame of reference. In this regard I apologize to any author I’ve misread, misinterpreted, or have inadvertently stolen from.”
