The General Sherman Tree is the largest living organism on earth! It lives in Sequoia National Park in California. In 1879 it was named by James Wolverton, a naturalist who served as a lieutenant under General Sherman in the American Civil War.
I visited the park this past weekend and was blown away by the great mass and beauty of the sequoia trees, and was particularly impressed with the General Sherman Tree, which is the largest tree by volume in the world!
