Far from pure entertainment, this is not about underground popular music, nor a focus on an epiphenomenon… but about the practice of radical musical forms that are not only outside but in opposition to the entertainment industry. — Jérôme Florenville
For filmmaker and radio programmer Florenville, the “fringe” is the center and the alternative his home. His latest documentary—TO WHOEVER WANTS TO LISTEN / A QUI VEUT BIEN L’ENTENDRE, filmed on a discrete set—presents the communities of Noise and extreme music. The 90-minute feature includes performances, interviews, and manifestos by—in order of appearance—VOMIR (Romain Perrot), Joachim Montessuis, Mariachi (Nina Garcia), Sajjra Chrs Galarreta, Deeat Palace (Marion Camy-Palou), Alessandra Zerbinati, Arnaud Rivière, Evil Moisture (Andy Bolus), and • • • (Nikola H. Mounoud).
TO WHOEVER WANTS TO LISTEN screens this week at Highways—as part of the Film Maudit 2.0 festival—and is also streaming online. See link below for details.
