This month, jumatatu m. poe and Jermone Donte Beacham will perform iterations of their LET ’IM MOVE YOU series on the West Coast.
Drawn from their research into J-Sette—“a performance style popular in the southern United States, practiced widely among majorettes and drill teams at historically Black colleges and universities, and also among teams of primarily queer men who compete at gay clubs and pride festivals”*—LET ’IM MOVE YOU: THIS IS A FORMATION will see indoor theatrical performances—in the round with a standing room audience—preceded by outdoor presentations of the more impromptu LET ’IM MOVE YOU: INTERVENTION.
