While we’re alive, we’re water in one form or another. What we discovered is a form of art always beginning again, never complete, with no audience, only participants, a movement, all love. Water never stops moving. — Oscar Tuazon
Join DoPe Press at Marta in Silver Lake for ACID-FREE LITE, the 2024 edition of the Acid-Free art book market and bazaar.
Highlights include the new publication Los Angeles Water School (LAWS), the second volume documenting the Oscar Tuazon’s ongoing, collaborative Water School project. The Los Angeles iteration included talks, performances, and exhibitions by over sixty artists and activists, and the new volume provides an extensive visual and contextual overview of this unique program. Water School, Vol. I will also be available, as well as Building, a look at the artist’s recent practice as installed and exhibited at Bergen Kunsthall, Kunst Museum Winterthur, and Kunsthalle Bielefeld. And check out the Water’s Cool t-shirts, designed by Dorothée Perret and available for purchase.
In addition, DoPe Press presents Scratching at the Moon, co-published with the Institute of Contemporary Art Los Angeles and edited by Anne Ellegood and Anna Sew Hoy. This exhibition catalogue for ICA LA’s groundbreaking 2024 show features the work of Patty Chang, Young Chung, Vishal Jugdeo, Simon Leung, Michelle Lopez, Yong Soon Min, Na Mira, Amanda Ross-Ho, Miljohn Ruperto, Dean Sameshima, Anna Sew Hoy, Amy Yao, and Bruce Yonemoto.
Fran, an artist’s book by Monica Nouwens, is a report from the field, a love letter dedicated to the streets of Los Angeles—or, as the artist describes her work, “a fragmented visual narrative of the soul of a place.”
Less is More is the exhibition catalogue for Jack Pierson’s most recent Regen Projects show, and includes an artist interview by Andy Campbell and an essay by Evan Moffitt.
